Another Word for Gray

As a writer, I have often wanted to describe an object (a setting or a person) and make it stand out. One way I like to make things I'm describing stand out is to use new ways to describe old, common, ordinary, everyday things.

Color Thesaurus

A quick was to accomplish this, is be choosing the most accurate and specific words possible. For example color. Today, I was searching for a to describe something that was gray--without saying it was gray.

So . . . I googled some trusty and friendly color sites. These are sites I've used before. Let me know if you find them helpful as well.

Here are some words you could use instead of gray:

Fog
Slate
Stone
Charcoal
Bone
Pewter
Graphite

Guess which one I chose . . . ?
